IPV TherapyThe IPV Impulsator was designed to allow patients of all ages with Cystic Fibrosis, Bronchitis, Asthama, Bronchiectasis, Pulmonary Emphysema and other pulmonary disease to maintain daily quality IPV treatment schedules in the comfort of their home. The IPV clinical concept was conceived, as well as the IPV administration devices designed, to provide for a total Bronchiolar-Alveolar Lung Recruitment. Lung management is gained by re-establishing the existing limited alveolar air exchange while equally important, enhancing the pulmonary blood flow during the pulmonary re-oxygenation process.
In other words, IPV® is a unique, long proven, total clinical cardiopulmonary recruitment and stabilization method and not just a method of treating the (shortness of breath) symptoms which are caused by the underlying pulmonary disease.
Flow Ventilation® uses a unique, patented venturi as a “clutch” mechanism to protect the lung from over pressure. By automatically adjusting to the resistance of the lung, the Phasitron® precisely and safely delivers the optimal amount and pressure of air required by the alveolar space. The resulting BIRDIAN FLOW bathes the alveoli in fresh oxygenated air while gently washing out CO2 and secretions. As the PULSATILE FLOW created by The Phasitron® travels down the airways to the alveolar space, it is rapidly attenuated into a gentle flow.
Essentially, IPV® in oversimplified terms, assists the respiration of patients with diseases which limit their normal respiration by helping to clear retained secretions from the lungs and then providing deep breathing to increase oxygen delivery to the alveoli as well as flushing carbon dioxide from the pulmonary airways.
To receive this type of mechanical ventilation, the patient breathes through an IPV® accessory device, the Phasitron®, which delivers rapid, high flow, mini-bursts (percussions) of Air or Oxygen into the lungs while simultaneously delivering therapeutic aerosols. IPV® loosens and helps propel deep retained airway secretions upward from the lungs where they can be more easily expectorated (coughed up).
IPV® has been proven to be an outstanding combining therapeutic procedure, in patients with obstructive pulmonary diseases; including, Bronchiolitis, Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis, Bronchiectasis, Neuro-muscular disorders, Emphysema, (General COPD), as well as for Post Operative and Emergency Room (ER) airway management. IPV® can be self administered by home care patients through a mouthpiece or mask. In the hospital IPV® can be administered by, mouthpiece, mask or endotracheal tubes, as well as in combination with an intensive care ventilator.
In summary, IPV® is an advanced composite of every practical historical means of mechanically and pharmacologically managing the symptoms of obstructive pulmonary diseases. HOWEVER, more important, IPV® was conceived to manage the maintenance of both Pulmonary and Bronchial blood flow during the process of managing Bronchitis with it’s associated swelling and secretion retention within the Bronchioles. While IPV® is directed toward the long term preservation of the Pulmonary Blood supply to the Bronchioles, as well as the Alveoli they ventilate, it serves toward keeping the Pulmonary airways free of retained endobronchial secretions reducing the work of normal breathing.
